Totah Festival. Stuart Billie
My 2 new bracelets from Stuart Billie
Close up shot of the inside of the bracelet.
Stuart won Best In show for 2011 Totah Festival. I love these new pieces. He is casting each piece in a material similar to cuttle fish bone. He gives you the mold when you purchase the piece as They are one of a kind. The mold is as beautiful as the piece. I have been silver smithing for sometime now and this is a technique I have wanted to do for so long. The Navajos are some of the best silver smiths in the world. Stuart was so generous and offered to teach me this technique. I hope to get some time off and take him off on this amazing offer. If you ever get a chance to purchase one of his pieces, I recommend you do as I think he will become very popular as he is already winning awards.

Light box
I followed the directions at http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html.
It was really easy and I made 2 boxes in an evening. The only alterations I made to his instructions, was to the inside. Instead of using white paper, I spray painted it with matte white Krylon. I attempted to use the paper, but I made a mess. I used matte in an attempt to eliminate all shadows. I think it worked well.

art unraveled
I spent several days in Scottsdale for Art Unraveled art retreat. I had more fun than I had anticipated. It really gave me to boost I needed to get back in the studio and start creating the art I want to create. I feel like I work so Much (at my "real" job), that the only time I create art is to meet a deadline.
I have had a ETSY site since 2007 and I have not posted a single item!!! I am cyber challenged and have been intimidated by a simple post. well....things are going to change (or this will be my last post) it could go either way!!
I am going to attempt to market my wares and blog more often. I have jewelry in a few gallerys in NM and Colorado, but I have not really made an attempt to market myself. The only reason I have art anywhere is because the gallerys sought me out. I cant sit and wait for them to come to me.
So....my goal is to be more active in the art world. I meet some GREAT people at art unraveled and would like to be more connected to the art community at large.
