Back from teaching at Idyllwild

Trying to recoup form teaching at Idyllwild in California.  linda mcnulty graciously invited me to be her assistant in her Santos making class.  We had a blast

The artist in class were so talented and produced amazing works. Thanks to all the ladies who took the class and allowed Linda and I to share this amazing experience with you.

Idyllwild is a private high school for the arts.  It has an amazing staff, campus and students.  The kids were so fun and it made me long to be a teen again.  Well maybe not emotionally!!!  But to be young and attend a school that fosters growth in creativity...what a blessing.  The setting was breathtaking.  Above is a picture of where graduation is held.  And Im told, a favorite hide away where young love blooms!( and staff patrols frequently!)  Linda and I even caught a gimps of a zombie (or a victim of a horribly kiln explosion....we couldn't decide)

I wanted to be able to paint in a bezel but I did not just want to paint on paper and cover it in resin.  So I gave Cement a shot.  I pored cement into a bezel and allowed it to dry.

I then drew my design with a fine tip sharpie and colored it with prizmacolor.  I used a but of gilders paste to jazz it up.  I was really happy with the results, but I was bummed to find that s soon as i added the resin, the dark color of the cement came back.  I will need to practice with this to keep the clean white color.  

I added a large carnelian briloette to the bottom.  I need to finish beading the rest of the necklace.

I am happy with the results and I like how the painting turned out.  The bezel is not really heavy.  It doesn't weigh any more that it would if it were full of resin.

I was so excited to have the entire day off tomorrow to work on Ice Resin and Spell Binder products...but alas...I received a text reminding me that Im working!!! Shoot I guess I just wont sleep hehe.  The hot flashes don't allow me to sleep anyway so I might as well be creating art!!

I made some new iced enamel earrings tonight,  I always to present my jewelry in a cool display box, so im currently working on an iced enamel metal case for them to live in!! check back soon to see the jewelry box. directions for these earrings will be on Iceresin.com  so keep checking there site

Sweet Bird

Here is my sweet Ice resin bird in her bronze nest.  I was inspired by this beautiful piece of wood.  I wanted to add something to it but I did not want to obscure the texture of the beautiful grain.  I cast this bird some time ago and she has just been sitting in my studio waiting for a place to land!  I colored the bird with gilders paste.  Keep checking the Ice resin blog for video posts on surface patinas for cast pieces.
